William Rounce — Accumulation Of Marginal Gains
File under — performance

Accumulation of Marginal Gains is an animation made up from hundreds of still images of a light tracing its path across the artists studio. The video takes its title from a statement by the Olympic cyclist Sir Chris Hoy when he described the minute incremental decreases of 100th of a second that you would accumuate when continually cycling around a velodrome.

Presented at Grand Union, Birmingham as part of ‘Virtual Space/Digital Trace’, alongside works by David Raymond Conroy, Ed Atkins, Mark Titchner, Richard Healy, Tim Dixon, Tom Badley and Trisha Baga. This performance could be thought about in relation to animation, space and trace.
