In Camp Fire Solina HiFi picked up and processed ambient sound from the Grand Union gallery space at building-rattling levels. Simultaneously video monitors showed the sound mathematically transposed into colour.
As well as a conventional recording, a contact mic attached to the gallery windows recorded the architecture’s vibrations.
Presented alongside Steven Dickie and Stuart Bannister and Vasco Alves, Adam Asnan and Louie Rice, this performance addresses themes of architecture, audio, documentation, frequency, sound and space. Shown as part of ‘Echoes (disambiguation)’, Grand Union, Birmingham.
